Obituary for Renee Jean Wyand

Renee Jean Harne Wyand, born January 8th 1963, left her earthly body on May 13th, 2021. Renee lived with her husband and pets whom she loved dearly in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania.

She was a graduate of Williamsport High School class of 1981 and then of Bridgewater College class of 1985, where she graduated with a degree in Sociology and Psychology. Renee spent many years working in various counseling and social work settings. From addictions counseling to working with troubled youth.

Renee was a beloved principal at Gateway Christian Academy where she not only educated, but mentored and guided her students. Many of her students remained in contact with her and sought her out for advice long after they had graduated.

She is survived by her mother, Hazel E. St Clair Fields and husband Robert; her father Edward G. Harne and wife Carol; her husband of 35 years, Timothy E. Wyand; a daughter, Chelsea R. Wyand Shelton and husband Matt, two grandsons, Crosby J., & Scout B.; one sister, Kecia N. Smith and husband Joey; a step-brother Larry Leisher and wife Lisa; one sister-in-law, Connie Harne; five nieces, & two nephews; a great niece, & a great nephew.

Preceded in death by her brother, Duane G. Harne.

Renee began a battle with Pulmonary Lung Disease in 2015. Her family chooses to remember her as she was, and not as this disease left her. She was full of vigor and life. She was honest even when it wasn’t easy to be. She was a rock and safe place for her family and so many who knew her and called her a friend. She is loved fiercely and missed dearly.

Her life will be celebrated at Virginia Avenue Church of God on May 22, 2021, at 2:00pm.
