Obituary for Raymond Gene Paxton Sr.

It is with deep sadness that we announce that Raymond Gene Paxton, Sr. of Martinsburg, WV passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 5, 2022 at the age of 80. Raymond was born on June 18, 1942 in Roanoke, VA to the late Walter L. Paxton and Evelyn Cheek.

He is preceded in death by his siblings, Thomas Paxton, Hal Paxton, Patricia Paxton, and Debra Honeycutt.

Raymond spent many years in the construction industry but what he was best known for was his occupation as a school bus driver for Jefferson Co. Schools. He also owned his own charter bus, Paxton Tours. Driving a bus was something he loved because he enjoyed meeting new people. In 1975 he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. The only thing he loved more than driving a bus was sharing his faith with others.

Raymond is survived by his two sons, RJ Paxton and his wife Kendall of Inwood, WV and Darren Paxton and his wife Lisa of Fountain Valley, CA; four grandsons, Kyle Paxton, Ryan Paxton, Bradley Paxton and his wife Cassandra, Spencer Paxton; one great-grandson, Clayton Paxton and a niece, Kim McCreath.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 725 Baltimore Street, Martinsburg, WV.
