Obituary for Pernell Ricks IV

Pernell “Ratchet” Ricks IV, 30 years old, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away on Wednesday December 2, 2020.

Born October 4, 1990 in the District of Columbia, he is the son of Pernell Ricks III and Tennina Thomas Ricks.

Pernell grew up in the District of Columbia and graduated from Frederick High School in 2009. He attended Hagerstown Community College for several years. Pernell’s dream in life was to be a youth football organizer. His passion was football and children. He was a coach for youth football in Montgomery Village and he also played for the football team, X-Dawgs. Pernell was always goofy, always joking around and had a huge heart. He would give anything to help others. Also being family oriented, he loved his mother dearly and they were best friends.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Sequoa Frazier, his children, Zae’Yon Ricks, Zamari Ricks, Za’Lay Ricks, Zari Ricks, Mizaya Ricks and Auviella Ricks. Also surviving Pernell are his brothers and sisters, Timothy Thomas and wife Lauria, Brooke Ricks and fiancé Kelly Parran, Lisa Ricks, Malcolm Ricks, Angel Ricks, Diamond Ricks, Leviticus Ricks, Nehemiah Ricks and Micah Ricks. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, and by two life long friends, Kendell Winters and Corey Beckett.

Pernell is preceded in death by his grandfather, Pernell Ricks Jr. and grandmother Shirley Jones.

Funeral services are provided by the Potomac Valley Cremation Center, 305 N Potomac St, Hagerstown, MD. Family visitation is January 2, 2021 1-2pm with a family and friends visitation from 2-3pm. Funeral Service 3pm. Interment private.
