Obituary for Michele Denise Woodyard

Michele Denise (Adams) Woodyard, 54 of Hagerstown, Maryland, transitioned peacefully at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington DC, in the morning hours of January 21, 2022.

Michele was born on July 16, 1967, to the late Jerome Edward Adams and Lavanna Francie Dutton.

She is a Christian, and as a humble servant of the Lord, she exhibited strong characteristics and was always in the know. This was evident as she was a member of St. John’s Baptist Church of Arlington, Virginia. She spoke very highly of Pastor J. Nicholas, Jr., and a host of loving friends. Michele and Michael’s marriage vows took place in the church sanctuary on January 1, 2015. Michele’s spiritual awareness continued to bloom as she became a member of Zion Baptist Church, under Pastor Ricky Smith. She was very ambitious about serving the Lord, and expanding on her education despite the adversities she faced.

Michele was a graduate of Hagerstown Community College, receiving her Associates Degree. She continued her education seeking a Bachelor’s of the Arts degree in Social Services. She was a devoted wife and loved her only son, Bruce Richardson Jr. She was also very much attached to the family dog, Blue. Michele’s charisma was very contagious. Those that interacted with her loved her style and the encouraging words of wisdom of her life experiences. She was a lab technician for Meritus Medical Center for over 5 years, and then accepted an offer to work at The Health Center as an activity coordinator specialist. Michele always had a heart of gold and will always be dear to her husband, Michael.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Edward Woodyard of Hagerstown MD, her mother Lavanna Francine Dutton of Salisbury, MD, her sisters Melissa Adams and Lolita Ivey of Salisbury, MD and her son Bruce Richardson Jr. of Arlington, VA. Michele is preceded in death by her father Jerome Edward Adams.
