Sister Mary Thaties Davis, age 88, of Hagerstown, MD departed this life on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at her home. She was born on June 12, 1934 in Lovington, VA to the late Massie and Arlease Diane (Washington) Loving.
Mary attended public school in Shipman, VA and later relocated to Hagerstown, MD, where she met and married the late Donald E. Davis, Sr.
Mary worked for and retired as the chef from McCroys Five and Dime Store for 40 years. Mary was a member of the Greater Campher Temple, were she was a member of the senior choir, a longtime member of the Usher Board and an active member of the Missionary Board.
Mary was loving known as Momma and Mrs. Chancellor. She loved to cook, get dressed up and serving the Lord. Mary was a kind, strong, and generous person that will truly be missed.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by, her husband, Donald E. Davis, Sr., her daughter, Thelma “Bunkie” Burnette, granddaughter, Debbie Younger, siblings, Caroline Loving, Corine White, Jesse Loving, Harry Loving, Massie Loving, Warren Loving and Bobbie Ray Loving.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory, son, Donald E. Davis, Jr. of Hagerstown, MD, daughters, Diane Swann of Hagerstown, MD, Donna Lynn Davis Dale of Ellicott City, MD and Phyllis Davis of Hagerstown, MD, sister, Josephine Loving and brother, Leonard Loving, both of Virginia, and numerous grandchildren, great-
grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 28 th from 11am to 12:00 noon at Greater Campher Temple, 125 Bethel Street, Hagerstown, MD, where funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, with Pastor Overseer Eric Rollins officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Harman Funeral Home, 305 North Potomac Street, Hagerstown, MD.
