Obituary for Lewis Calvin Solem
Lewis “Lars” Solem, a resident of Washington, DC, passed away at the Washington Hospital Center on January 22, 2021 after many years of declining health.
From the earliest age, Lewis was a free and fiercely independent spirit who loved travel and was gifted in languages. In his youth he was an avid member of the Boy Scouts and maintained strong ties with fellow Scouts throughout his life. Trained in the field of legal arbitration; he worked as a paralegal in the DC area for many years. Lewis was a member of the SGI-USA and was active at the Massachusetts Avenue Buddhist Center.
Lewis is survived by his sister Peggy Hurkett (Dean) of Damascus, MD, nephew Evan (Karla) and niece Sarah. He was preceded in death by his parents Cal and Martha Solem.
The family is forever grateful for the support of Catholic Charities. Due to COVID restrictions a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
