Obituary for Karen Sue Hardin (Caldwell)
Karen Sue Hardin, age 66, of Hagerstown, MD, formerly of Prince George’s County, MD died surrounded by family on March 11, 2022 at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown. She was born in Washington, DC on December 4, 1955 to Barbara Anne Caldwell and the late Clarence Caldwell.
Karen loved to bake, especially for her family. She enjoyed watching her soaps, crocheting and shopping, but her true passion was caring for her family. Even while growing up, she helped take care of her siblings. Later, she cared for her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James David Hardin, Sr. and brother Michael W. Caldwell, Sr. Karen was a loving and devoted mother; she leaves behind her three children: Karen M. “Carrie” Hardin, James D. Hardin, Jr. and wife Barbara, and Jonathan D. Hardin. She was a proud grandmother to Liam, Christopher, Braden and Finn. Karen is also survived by her siblings Linda Caldwell, Steven Caldwell, Barbara Burgos, sister-in-law Judy Caldwell and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 18th from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Harman Funeral Home, 305 North Potomac Street, Hagerstown, MD, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00pm with Rev. Susan A. Haberkorn, Ph.D. officiating. Interment will be private. Online condolences may be made at www.potomaccremation.com.
