Obituary for Barbara E. Grabofski (Herzog)

Barbara E. Grabofski, age 91, formerly of Elizabeth Township, passed away on September 2, 2022 at home in Martinsburg, West Virginia with her family by her side.

She was born October 27, 1930 in Olean, New York and was the daughter of the late Walter “Dutch” Herzog and Kathryn Bevier Herzog. Barbara grew up in Ridgway, PA where she graduated from Ridgway High School in 1948.

On October 30th, 1948 Barbara married Donald Richard Grabofski, who passed away January 12, 1974. Barbara was very proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.

Barbara worked at Elizabeth Forward Junior High School cafeteria for seven years. After raising her children, Barbara worked full-time as a secretary for Pittsburgh Allegheny Thermal from 1983 thru 1987. Barbara also worked eleven years as a Clerk Typist for Children and Youth Services of Allegheny County where she retired in 1998. Barbara has been an active member of Peace Lutheran Church serving as a former secretary and participating on various committees/ministries over her 50 plus years as a member. She was also an active member of the McKeesport Garden Club and Boston Seniors. Barbara enjoyed bowling, golf and travel as social activities.

Barbara is survived by her four children: Jill (James) Johnson of Tarpon Springs, FL; Ava Jean (Bob) Oskin of Sutersville, PA; Jeffrey (Jen Selner) Grabofski of Bel Air, MD; and Janet (Michael) McGuire of Martinsburg, WV. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Jeremy (Liz) Krise, Adam Krise, Jonathan (Dan) Krise, James (Hilary) Johnson, Cameron Grabofski, Savannah Grabofski and four great grandchildren. Barbara had one brother, William L. Herzog of Bradford, PA who passed away June 25, 2019. She is also survived by 5 nieces and 5 nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenock, PA at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 1, 2022 followed by a luncheon in the church social hall for friends and family.
